How to Avoid Being Late due to Clothing

4 Easy Ideas to Avoid Being Late due to Clothing

Now, let's all be honest here. We've all been late to something at least ONCE due to our clothing. Whether it be because we planned an outfit but you were too bloated that day to wear it, you couldn't find a piece of clothing that you were going to wear, or your boobs managed to catch some food on your shirt.

I know, because I'm a culprit for all of these - even though I don't really have boobs (A CUP CLUB!!!). I also fall victim to the horrible, horrible thing called 'procrastination'. I always procrastinate getting ready, and when I do get ready, my time is always overruled by doing my makeup instead of picking an outfit. Thankfully, I don't really have many clothes to choose from seeing as I don't have a big wardrobe and I always tend to go for the same clothing pieces (outfit repeating is a pleasurable sin of mine).

So today I will just be giving you some really simple, and even some really straightforward tips as to how to avoid being late due to your clothing, even if you are a procrastinator like me.

Now, first up I want to mention that these tips are applicable to everyone - they aren't just exclusive to a certain group of people. These will work for people who are getting ready for school, work, a day out with friends, and even if you just need to quickly get ready to go out somewhere last minute (forgotten birthday party, anyone?).

1. USE YOUR WARDROBE

Like I said, some of these may be quite obvious and simple things, like this one. And by use your wardrobe I literally mean USE IT. Don't just put random pieces of clothing in your wardrobe, put your favourite pieces of clothing that you wear most frequently, and also especially put the clothes that get creased in your wardrobe in order to save time ironing your clothes. This, I can guarantee is extremely helpful. Not only does this allow you to skip ironing, it allows you to find your favourite pieces of clothing easily and quickly, and reduces the likelihood of losing clothes.

2. GET RID OF UNNEEDED CLOTHES

Hoarders, you're not gonna like this, but I have to break it to you. Getting rid of clothes that are too small, extremely too big (too big that you don't wear the clothing) or clothes you bought online and just do not suit you, will help you be able to get ready without being late. Why? Because it means you can look through less clothes in order to make an outfit, it means that you save time on trying things on that don't look good on - because you've gotten rid of the things that just don't work with you. It also, as well, reduces the chance of losing clothes amongst the mountain of your clothes.

3. MAKE YOUR VERY OWN LOOKBOOK

Now, this one may not be everyone's cup of tea cause it doesn't always work out and it can be time consuming - BUT in the long run, it really is handy. So for those of you who don't know what an outfit lookbook is, it is a portfolio of images (of sorts) of outfits, complete outfits - including jewellery, hair pieces (e.g. headbands, beanies, hats, etc.), and other accessories.

What this allows you to do is that you can just take a look at your lookbook if you need an outfit last minute and, there you go, there's an outfit idea already ready for you. The pros of making a lookbook is that the outfits are the outfits that you have created, they're your own ideas meaning you would actually consider wearing the outfit.

But there is a con, some people (like me) are too shy to get somebody else to take a photo of them, you can take a photo yourself but it can be a little difficult sometimes. Another thing is that it can be time consuming to do because you have to go through all your clothes and organise everything and you have to keep changing clothes and accessories (you can just take photos of the outfit laid out, but it doesn't always give you the right idea of what it looks like on).

4. PICK OUTFITS THE NIGHT BEFORE

An alternate idea to a lookbook is just picking an outfit out the night before. This doesn't really work if an event just pops up at the last minute because you may not have a nights notice for the event, but it is a good idea for work or school or a family lunch. This means that you have time if you really need to change your outfit before the event (being bloated is an outfit killer). And it also means that if the shirt you've got in mind is actually sitting in the dirty laundry pile, you have enough time to wash it or if it's missing you can take the time to find it.

So, there you have it. 4 easy ideas to avoid being late due to clothing. Some easier and more straightforward than others.
